The pertinent requirements for firearm ownership in Australia are determined by the Firearms Act, 1996. While several state governments have excellent sites covering this act, the federal site may be located at http://www.legislation.act.gov.au/default.asp.

In addition, numerous Firearm Regulation have been implemented across Australia and these regulate activities such as ammunition collecting, arms fairs, etc. Again, several state governments have excellent sites dedicated to Firearms Regulation.
